We Have a 5 Minute Request of You.
Friday morning we will meet outside on the State House steps (near the top) at 9am. I will be wearing an orange jacket, and holding a small School Choice Vermont! sign.
Your morning will be easy: We will put on stickers and head into the State House. We will sit in the observation gallery and at 9:30 the legislative day will start. We will be introduced as a group to the floor, at which time we will stand, and they will applaud. Basically that is how we show our support and demonstrate our commitment to school choice, just by being there. It is okay to bring children who can sit quietly while in the gallery. Bring a friend, Montpelier is a great city to spend time in.
There is another bill scheduled to be discussed first, so if you need to leave at any point, that is fine. There is free Wi-Fi in the State House and a nice cafeteria, so you don't need to stay seated in the gallery the whole time. The "in between" time can be used to write notes to your legislators in favor of school choice. The pages will hand deliver the notes for you.
If You Cannot Join Us, You Can Still Help and it Takes Just Five Minutes.
1- Look up the name of your representative(s) here on our website (we are not concerned with senators at this stage)
2- Send them an email in support of school choice and the bill H.782, include your name and town.
3- Call the "Sergeant-at-Arms" and leave a message for your rep(s) (see the same web page for How-To.)
Five minutes of your time will make a HUGE difference. If you can do this on FRIDAY MORNING that would be ideal, but Thursday afternoon and Friday afternoon are also fine.
